Problem

After updating my system, and rebooting the system, the system comes into a bootloop; this message is shown briefly:

System BootOrder not found. Initializing defaults.
Creating boot entry "Boot0001" with label "ubuntu" for file "\EFI\ubuntu\shimx64.efi"

Reset System

and the system reboots again

Environment

  • Kubuntu 17.10
  • Lenovo T470S

Solution: Enable Boot Order Lock

See: Bug #1750351 “(Thinkpad T470) Boot loop after update” : Bugs : shim package : Ubuntu

After entering the BIOS ThinkPad Setup and setting { Startup | Boot Order Lock = Disabled } and F10 (Save and Exit) the error was shown a last time, but upon next reboot the error was gone and the system booted nicely into Kubuntu again.
