Problem

When I try to access /dev/hdd or /media/cdrecorder11 I receive the error message:

freddy@linux:/media/cdrecorder11> ls
/bin/ls: .: No medium found

Solution

Plug the IDE cable.

This is after I moved all my equipment from a 360W case to a 300W case. Can this be the cause?

This is what dmesg has to say (no sign of /dev/hdd):

Probing IDE interface ide1...
hdc: PHILIPS CDD5101, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15
hdc: ATAPI 40X DVD-ROM CD-R/RW drive, 8192kB Cache, UDMA(33)

I'm gonna check the IDE cable... It wasn't plugged in /dev/hdd :-| Now dmesg is telling me:

Probing IDE interface ide1...
hdc: PHILIPS CDD5101, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
hdd: CD-RW CRX100E, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15
hdc: ATAPI 40X DVD-ROM CD-R/RW drive, 8192kB Cache, UDMA(33)
hdd: ATAPI 24X CD-ROM CD-R/RW drive, 1024kB Cache, DMA
