Problem
Computer hangs during boot with message: "Verifying DMI pool data".
I had removed one of two harddrives – the one with Windows on it.
The disconnected drive contained the Linux GRUB boot loader. The remaining drive contained Linux, but no boot loader so the DMI couldn't figure out how to boot the harddrive.
Also the Linux configuration (/etc/fstab) wasn't correct anymore.
Solution
I booted from CDROM with the SuSE 10.0 CD. Choose {Installing | Other | Rescue system}. This let me mount the root partition as /, re-edit /etc/fstab and re-install GRUB.
