• After modifying xorg.conf you can just hit CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE and re-login to see the changes.
• The ~/.X.err error log contains configuration errors.
• Although specifying modelines in xorg.conf isn't necessary, specyfying modelines results in higher frequency rates, thus more relaxing view for your eyes on CRT monitor.
• You can use XBindKeys to bind keys in X, independent of window manager.
