Cdrecord: error accessing /dev/hdc

Problem

When giving the command:

cdrecord blank=fast

I receive an error cdrecord can't detect my /dev/hdc.

This has to be done once on a system to obtain the device numbers, run as root:

cdrecord dev=ATA -scanbus
